Nationals 3 - Mets 2
In a lackluster affair at Saul Katz field the Washington Nationals topped the New York Mets 3-2. RA Dickey, once again, pitched well but the Mets only managed 3 hits on the night. After the game, a fired up Terry Collins blamed the Mets poor performance on the 9/11 hat controversy, claiming his team was distracted: “We all wanna know what kind of hat we are gonna wear tonight. That takes away from the game.”
Mets Blob was initally against the hiring of Terry Collins but his spunk, fire, communication skills and knowledge of the game won the Blob over early, and we have supported him all season.
Sorry, Terry, in this case you are lost. The Mets should have worn first responder caps last night because it was the right thing to do. Terry, the reason it is a story today is because you, Sandy Alderson and Fred and Jeff Wilpon bent over the ecologically friendly Citi Field urinals and let Joe Torre, Bud Selig and New Era cap company have their way with your sorry asses.
Mets Blob is a New Yorker, Terry. You are not. If you were you would have insisted that your team wear FDNY, NYPD and other first responders caps. The Mets should have worn the caps and dared MLB to issue fines. Even Bud "Mr.Burns" Selig - who is more lost than The Tea Party in Tijuana - wouldn't be stupid enough to ask the Mets to cough up any dough. If he did, the old fool would be run out of town on a rail.
Terry, this is NY. You are not in Houston or Anaheim or wherever the hell else you played or managed. If you wimp out and are not man enough to do the right thing we are going to let you know. Get used to it.
