DAVID DON’T NEED NO STINKING PINKY

Mets 5 – Phillies 0
On a day when we all feared David Wright was on his way to the DL he instead played and drilled the first pitch he saw out on the park in the top of 1st inning. The Wright homer set the tone for NY and give Mets pitching the only run they would need. It was great to not only see Wright alive after dealing with the Mets medical staff but possibly more importantly see him pick up right where he left off going 3-5 on the day. Jon Niese had another very strong outing going 6 plus and the NY pen once again shut the door. In the 4th Bay hit into a bases loaded DP seemly getting Philly out of jam, but then Lucas “I like going yard on Saturday” Duda powered a 2 run homer out of Citizens’ Bank Park effectively stepping on the necks of our east rivals. Some way, some how the Mets are getting it done and move to 6-2 on the season. What the hell Blobbers, why not? Make yourself a Happy Nightcap it’s Saturday night and the Mets just took a series from the Phillies in Philly and that’s worth drinking to!
Gooooodnightall!

DICKEY DOMINATES

The Mets got to Cliff Lee early tonight and RA Dickey mastered the Phillies in a tidy 5-2 win. Jason Bay clubbed a long 2 run HR to right center - but if you think the Blob is going to get giddy over it, think again. Remember Blobbers: Even a blind squirrel finds a broken clock that is right twice a day. Bays HR means very little unless he backs it up with some consistent play. He is not slumping...or struggling, he is sucking and has sucked since he became a Met. Stop with the "maybe this will get Jason going" garbage. Running into a pitch once a month is not going to get it done.

The Blob has watched baseball for many years and has never seen a play as stupid as the one Josh Thole made tonight. Josh was sacrificed to second on a beautiful bunt by RA Dickey...or so we thought. Not so fast.

You see, Josh "the undercooked Matt Damon" Thole once again proved that he, his brain and his baseball smarts need a few more hours in the oven. Thole mistook Jimmy Rollins telling him there was no need to slide for Jimmy Rollins telling him it was a foul ball. So the half-baked backstop started to stroll back to first base and was tagged out.

On a positive note, RA Dickey is a hell of a pitcher and an excellent all around ballplayer. RA can swing the bat, bunt and is an outstanding fielder. He knows how to play the game.
WRIGHT WASH PART 1
The Wasted Roster Spot: A Met Speciality:

David Wright is cleared to play tonight...but he is not in the lineup. Having guys in uniform that are not able to play is a hallmark of Mets mismanagement. Over the past several seasons the Mets have been afraid to pull the trigger on placing players on the DL, letting guys sit on the bench untill they are ready to play. Of course, in the National League, playing one man down can cripple a team. Since the Mets - at full strength- already have a depleted roster it makes no sense to have men on the bench who are unable to play. Mets Blob hopes David is in the lineup tomorrow and all is well. However, the Mets have pulled this move so often, we fear the worst. It usually goes like this:
1- the player takes a few days off to get healthy.
2 - the player tries to play a game but still doesn't feel right so he takes a few more days off.
3 - he tries to play again, and can't - and is forced to the DL.
4 - in the process, the Mets play a chunk of games a man short.
5 - by the time the player is placed on the DL, about 2 wasted weeks go by.
6 - this is where we scream in unison: WHY DIDN'T YOU ASSHOLES JUST PUT HIM ON THE DL IN THE FIRST PLACE?

WRIGHT WASH PART 2
Wright Headed to DL
Eddie C just told Francesss that the Mets are "making preparations to put Wright on DL."So, once again we can't believe anything we are told. The hand specialist says David can play if he can tolerate the pain. Now we learn that is not the case. Why make that statement and put David in a bad spot like that? We know it's not just a pain thing because David played last year with a broken back. Eddie C said Wright can't even make a fist and grip a bat. You can't spell clusterfuck without M-E-T-S.
