The Happy Nightcap
Mets 11 - Braves 7
• Slugfest at Citi •
The Mets out-slugged the Braves tonight at Citi Field 11-7 to even up the series at one game a piece. Justin Turner drilled two home runs, one to right center and one into the left field seats. Jason Bay and Josh Thole also went yard to lead the Mets attack. Thole had 3 hits on the night as did Angel Pagan. Jose Reyes, Turner and Bay each had 2 hits. Jon Niese was not sharp, yielding 5 runs on 10 hits through five innings.
Lucas waits for the ball to hit him in the ear
Though the win was nice to see, the defense remains a big concern. Daniel Murphy had yet another ball clank off his glove and David Wright picked up a dribbler down the third base line on a ball that had a chance to go foul - leaving him with no play and loading the bases. Lucas Duda added to the defensive mess tonight playing right field like an intoxicated Swedish exchange student. Mets Blob continues to be amazed that so many young Mets players are so clueless defensively.
DEFENSE!!!! Let's work on it, boys!
