BELTRAN: IF I KNEW NIESE WAS GOING TO SUCK I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT HIM HIS NEW NOSE!

Blue Jays 14 - Mets 5
Jonathon Niese did not have it tonight. That was not the problem. It happens to all pitchers. The problem was that Niese did not compete. He allowed Blue Jays batters to dig in and swing for the fences with no fear that the ball was coming inside. Mets Blob is not advocating drilling anyone, but pitching inside is a necessary part of baseball. There was no need for Toronto batters to wear their helmets tonight. Niese put no fear in anyone. Once he realized he did not have his stuff, he gave up and threw batting practice.

Terry Collins was at fault too. He should have grabbed Niese by the ear and ordered him to throw inside. Let's stop hearing about how hard nosed and old school Collins is. He does not show it. Maybe he was afraid those mean Blue Jays pitchers would throw at David Wright if Niese threw inside. This is hardball, Terry. Grow a pair.

After the game Carlos Beltran in a conference call with Mets writers was, to say the least, disappointed in Niese:

"When I decide to buy a guy a nose, I expect him not to suck. Jon Niese does not deserve a $10,000 nose. I regret my decision completely. I plan to call Jon tomorrow to ask him to return the nose to the nose store for a complete refund."
