Terry Collins: I may sit David Wright for the remainder of the season!
In a stunning development, Terry Collins stated he feels so strongly about his decision to remove David Wright from last nights game, he is considering benching Wright for the season. Terry shared his thoughts with Mets Blob:
"Look, we can't afford to let David Wright get hurt. He is the face of the franchise. I just feel if he keeps playing every day the odds of him getting injured increase dramatically. Remember when he hurt his pinky? That's because he was playing in the ballgame. It's the goddamn baseball activity that puts him in harms way. If he snuggles up to me in the dugout, like he did last night, I know he's safe. We can't allow David to be a target out there. But, that's the way the game is played and I can't have that. Jesus, they weren't gonna throw at Ike Davis - it's going to be David...and I want David to be safe. Believe you me, I'd love them to stick one in Ike's ear hole and wake him the F up...but we know that ain't gonna happen."
Put the damn "C" on his jersey!!!! Terry what the hell are you waitting for.. And get that contract done already Sandy.. LETS GO METS!!!
ReplyDeleteFoolish managing is what loses games. I think Terry is out of his league, he has done a nice job so far, but the Mets are not going to win with him at the helm. Don't be such a baby, let David play the whole game, if he gets hit so be it, it's baseball not twiddly winks. Terry has lost the last two games for the Mets on sheer managing blunders. I don't know when poor Santana will win another game if he is taken out and the bullpen continues to be mismanaged. Terry needs to go to Sandy and insist he provides him with a standout closer, or 8th inning guy. I think Rauch, and the other clowns cant get it done, and it would be a shame to watch this team, which I believe has potential suddenly fall to last place before the all star break. Terry needs to settle once in for all who the 7, 8 and closer is going to be. Musical chairs in the majors doesnt work. Make Parnell your closer, switch Martinez to the 8th and try Francisco in the 7th if necessary, stick to this for the next few months and see if you dont stop losing games you should be winning.
