Ike will get the day off the preserve his no hit streak. So far this season Ike is completely out of sync at the plate. With Ike's rec softball swing style of load up, leg kick, lunge forward, it's easy to get out of whack. Hitters often fall into to a pattern of trying to do too much at the plate. As things get worse, the more they try, and the worse it gets. 9 times of 10 they just need to trust their hands, hang back and rip. Easier said than done, but it really is the key. Unlike Bay the Blob feels Ike will be fine and the day off will do him well. The only other thing Ike needs to work on is being less bitchy at the plate. Keith is right when he says that Ike is only going to make it harder on himself if he digs a big hole with the boys in blue.
Mike "My Hand Sure is Yummy" Pelfrey didn't have his best stuff tonight but did something we don't often see from the Yeti in orange and blue-he battled, even after the Nats went up 3-0. David Wright drove in a run to cut the lead to 2. The big space blast came from captain Kirk Nieuwenhuis when he tied the game at 3 with a 2 run jack. The Mets' new found pen of steel held down the Nats through the 9th, aided by a fantastic defensive play by Murphy, who's diving stop of a hard grounder up the middle shut down Washington's last chance to break the tie. Then with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 9th, Murph traded heroic leather for wood and drove in the walk off run to give the Mets the 4-3 victory. The Blob has really enjoyed this unexpected 4-0 start to the 2012 season. BUT Jason Bay is death. There is only so long that the Mets can win with an automatic out in the 5 hole. It's not a slow start to this season. It's the continuation of a slow start that began when the ink dried on his contract with the Mets. Let Baxter play, let Hairston play or MOVE HIM DOWN. The waiting for Bay must stop. It's pathetic.
